How to avoid email mistakes...

This is absolutely essential.

the email standard

Hey there!

Emiel here with another edition of The Email Standard.

Are you sending emails regularly to your customer base?

That's great, but let's make sure each of those emails is working hard for you.

This week, I want to stress the importance of implementing a rigorous quality control process for your email campaigns.

I will even show you our own quality control checklist that we use within our agency, Magicianly.

Let’s talk about Quality Control

Here’s why:

Even a single mistake, like a broken link, can cost you dearly.

Imagine crafting a perfect email that captures the attention of over 50% of your subscribers and motivates 3% to click, only to discover that the link leads nowhere.

Frustrating, right?

That’s why having a solid quality control checklist is absolutely essential.

Sending 2-4 emails a week without meticulously checking each element is like walking a tightrope without a safety net.

The risk of a slip-up costing tens of thousands of dollars is just too high.

So, what should you be double-checking before hitting 'send'?

Here’s the exact checklist we use at Magicianly:

Quality Control Checklist (steal this!)

  • General Check:

    • Is the email made with the mobile-first principle?

    • Does the email look good on mobile AND desktop in Klaviyo? (font-size, padding, colors)

    • Does the email look good in dark mode? (is everything still visible?)

    • Have you sent a test email to yourself and checked the email on both desktop AND mobile?

    • Have you used the correct subject line & preview text, with no typos?

    • Have you used the right sender name?

    • Have you used the right segment?

    • Have you used the right exclusion segments?

    • Have you turned on Smart Sending?

    • When Applicable: Does the Dynamic Product Block work?

    • When Applicable: Is the coupon code set up correctly (time frame, discount type, etc.)?

  • Images Check:

    • Does all images have been compressed for smaller image sizes?

    • Are all images high-quality and non-blurry?

    • Do all images have an ALT text?

    • Are all images from Figma in Klaviyo?

  • Copy Check:

    • No grammatical or spelling errors?

    • No typos?

    • Do product pictures and names match?

    • Are all text elements from the Google Doc file in Klaviyo?

  • CTAs Check:

    • Do all links go to the right place, with no broken links?

    • Are ALT texts set up?
